This school was built by a community of friends: Focus Services, LDS Humanitarian Services, Municipality of SenahĂș, Alta Verapaz and CHOICE Humanitarian and is dedicated to the sacrifice of the survivors and those who passed away during the 2008 plane crash. The school is named after Javier and Walfred Rabanales in memory of and gratitude for their tireless service to the community. After two days of cultural, sporting and religious activities the Rabanales memorial school was opened in the community of Sepamac.
The community placed a commemorative plaque on the school that reads:In gratitude and in memory of the CHOICE Humanitarian Family members and survivors who died tragically in August 2008 who fought hard to serve the poor communities. They should know they left many grateful hearts behind that some day will join them to say thank you friends.
It then lists everyone by name who was on the expedition meant to build this school.

What a beautiful tribute to these amazing souls. Their goodwill and service will always be remembered here.
The completion of this school is an amazing example of what makes CHOICE so successful in its mission to help these communities. The villagers completed the school on their own and with the new skills learned, are ready to make their next dream possible.
